Dear Resident:

Yesterday afternoon we received a postcard mailing at the City Building from Duke Energy. I suspect most of you have received the same mailing or soon will. I also suspect that most of you receive a lot of “junk mail” and may have accidentally overlooked this mailing from Duke. In case that happened, please click the link below to view the postcard from Duke:

Duke Smart Meters

The information on the card concerns the upcoming transition to digital smart meters.

A Fact Sheet regarding the Duke Energy Smart Meters is also available.  Please click the link below to obtain that information:

Smart Meter Fact Sheet

You may soon receive a knock on the door from a Duke employee who wants to change out your meter. There is information on the attached card about the identification the Duke employees are required to carry with them when conducting this work. However, if at any time you think a person knocking on your door is suspicious please do not hesitate to contact our police department; we will gladly respond to assist and ensure the legitimacy of the person at your door.

The attached mailing explains the project Duke is undertaking and what/who you should look for when the time comes. It also explains how you can go about opting out of this program if you so desire. This is a Duke project so if you have questions or concerns please contact them at the number listed on the card. If there is anything else we can help you with please contact the city building.
