Museum Opens: Friday, March 3, 2017

Civil War Book Discussion Group and Giant Book Sale:  March 18, 2017

The Civil War book discussion will held at 2 PM.  We will discuss Partners in Command: The Relationships Between Leaders During the Civil War by Joseph T. Glatthaar. The book is available on Amazon and at your local public library and you may be able to find it at Barnes and Nobles or Joseph Beth. For questions about the book discussion group, please call moderator Rob Langenderfer (859) 371-9798.

The Museum will be having a GIANT used book sale from 12 PM to 5PM with books heavily discounted, so you can stop by the book sale downstairs before or after the discussion.

NKU Hisory Day at the Boone County Public Library:  March 25, 2017

The Museum will have a display table at NKU History Day at the Boone County Library, Stop by to say hi as you enjoy the History Day presentations and workshops.

National Civil War Trust Park Day:  April 1, 2017

Join us at the Museum beginning at 9 AM to clean up the Museum grounds and flower beds and get ready for the spring season. This is part of a nationwide helping day sponsored by the Civil War Trust. We will have free T shirts for participants. 

James A. Ramage Civil War Museum Blue and Gray Dinner:  April 25, 2017

The annual Blue and Gray Dinner will be held at the Twin Oaks Golf Gold and Planataion Club, 450 East 43rd Street, Latonia, Kentucky. This is a great event to support the Museum. 

Cocktail hour (cash bar) will be between 6:00 PM-7:00 PM
Dinner will start at 7:00 PM

The Blue and Gray Dinner’s guest speaker is Dr. Andrea Watkins, NKU History Professor. The topic will be “First Ladies of the Civil War”

During the event, we will hold a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum. Cash and check only.

Tickets are $50 per person/ $360 Table of 8, payable in advance.

Park Day Part 2 - Landscaping and Planting Day:  May 13, 2017

Join us from 8 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, May 13th to plant, mulch, and landscape around the Museum. Please dress for outdoor work and bring work gloves. If you bring gardening tools, please mark with your name.

We welcome deer resistant plant donations, especially perennials and shrubs. Please bring with you for planting!

Refreshments provided.

Roebling Fest :  June 17, 2017

Lecture Series:  June 25, 2017

Join us at 1:00 PM at the Fort Wright City Building, 409 Kyles Lane, Fort Wright, KY 41011 for "Character Makes the Man, The Story of the Kentucky Military Institute 1845-1971".  Ken Harper, KMI class of 1948, will introduce the film and answer questions afterward.  The film is 56 minutes long.

This documentary explores the 126 year history of the nation’s oldest private preparatory military school and the strong legacy it left behind. Politicians such as Henry Clay praised the school and sent his own son. Its diverse alumni include Confederate General Robert F. Hoke, former Kentucky Governor John Y. Brown, actors Victor Mature and Jim Bachus, NASCAR driver Danny Sullivan, and others. The film is narrated by Nick Clooney. Executive producers are Ken Harper, Bill Vermillion, Roger Cole.

Donation $ 5.00, $ 4.00 for members.  Proceeds benefit the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum.

Book Discussion:  July 22, 2017

Join us at 2:00 PM at the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum, 1402 Highland Ave. Fort Wright, KY 41011 for our book discussion of "Conferderates in the Attic" by Tony Horwitz.

Lecture Series:  July 23, 2017

Join us at 1:00 PM at the Fort Wright City Building, 409 Kyles Lane, Fort Wright, KY 41011 for Rebecca S. Lindsay speaking on "Unionists and Pacifists: The Mennonite Experience in the Civil War."

The lecture is $5 and $4 for Civil War Museum members.

Battery Hooper Civil War Days:  August 19-20, 2017

12–6 PM Saturday, 12-5 PM Sunday at the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum located in Battery Hooper Park, 1402 Highland Avenue, Fort Wright, KY 41011.  This is a free event. Be sure to visit our History Book Store for our 50% off sale (cash or check only).

Listen to a debate between American President Lincoln and Confederate President Davis. Be inspired by the true story of Civil War Nurse “Mother Beard”. Here of how our citizen banded together under the leadership of Gen. Wallace to turn back a rebel army. Learn of the naval battles fought on our rivers and the high seas. Touch the petting zoo animals and enjoy the food and beverages. Walk among the one of the last remaining fortification that protected greater Cincinnati during the Civil War. Visit our Museum featuring artifacts from the Civil War and local history, including a “life mask” made from President Lincoln’s face during his life, weapons, documents and exhibits on Civil War nurses. Go back in time among Civil War camps, a field hospital, horses and cannons.

Civil War Christmas:  December 10, 2017

Celebrate Christmas of yesteryear with us on Sunday December 10th from 12-5 PM at the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum located in Battery Hooper Park, 1402 Highland Avenue, Fort Wright, KY 41011. The museum will be decorated using natural materials like our ancestors used during the nineteenth century. Learn how Civil War soldiers celebrated the holiday. Enjoy our special exhibit of vintage Christmas ornaments and quilts. It is a free, family-friendly event, with children’s activities. Help make ornaments and take one home! Santa will visit during the afternoon. For your Christmas shopping pleasure, please visit our gift shop and used book sale. Great stocking stuffers such as key chains, replica toys, decks of cards, Fern Storer’s excellent cookbook, and more. We have over 1000 excellent used and collectible Civil War History books for sale. Also for sale are many other military history and biographical titles.

We are proud to announce that we have launched the capability to pay your taxes via credit card this year. This is a secure site that implements encryption to ensure that your payment is safe. If you wish to pay by credit card you can do so by clicking the “More info+” at the bottom of this article or by clicking on the "Property Taxes" menu item on the left. Please note that if paying by credit card you will be assessed a 2.49% processing fee. The processing fee is collected by the credit card company to offset our cost for providing this service. The City of Fort Wright does not receive any portion of the processing fee.
